Rockford Opens its Season at the Beloit Early Bird

ROSCOE, Ill. - The Rockford University cross country teams opened their seasons on Saturday with a dual meet against the Beloit College Buccaneers. It was an excellent opening meet for the Regents, as the women's team finished second and every runner that crossed the finish line set a new personal best in either the 5k or 6k race.

Women's Results (5k)

  • Kellie Frerichs was the top performer of any Regent on Saturday. Frerichs finished fourth in her first collegiate race with a time of 22:52.6.
  • Elina Lynge Wagner placed tenth and crossed the finish line in 26:53.6. 
  • Annabelle Stefanic ran very well in her first race in a Rockford uniform. Stefanic finished in 13th with a time of 27:29.6.
  • Freshman Taylor Mundt crossed the finish line in 29:27.7 to finish in 16th place.
  • Senior Maddy Pearson finished 18th in her first collegiate race with a time of 31:52.2.

Men's Results (6k)

  • Freshman Antoine Callebaut led the RU men's team with an 11th place finish. Callebaut completed the race in 27:35.5.

The RU cross country teams return to action on Friday, September 6 at the UW-Parkside Vic Godfrey Open. The meet has a scheduled start time of 5:00 PM.
