Cross Country Opens its Season at the Beloit Early Bird Invite.

ROSCOE, Ill. - The Rockford University men's and women's cross country teams began the 2018 season on Friday afternoon at the Beloit College Early Bird Invite. The men's team placed third, while the women's team did not have enough participants to record a team score. 

 

Men's Results

  • Christian Devant (Winnebago, Ill.) led the way for the Regents in the 6k placing third and crossing the finish line in 22:54.0.
  • Joe Werkheiser (Lena, Ill.) also ran well finishing fifth with a time of 23:26.2.
  • Cristan Newton (Shreveport, La.) placed 13th and crossed the finish line in 24:05.6.
  • Nick Noel (Loves Park, Ill.) finished 20th with a time of 30:37.4.
  • Carlos Flores (Elgin, Ill.) was the final Regent to compete on the men's side. Flores finished 24th with a time of 39:15.6.

Women's Results

  • Tracy Wang (Lianyungang, China) was the top finisher for the women's team in the 5k. Wang placed 18th and crossed the finish line in 28:16.5.
  • Elizabeth Lisenby (Kasilof, Alaska) finished 19th with a time of 33:24.5.

 

The RU cross country teams return to competition next Friday, September 7 at the Aurora University Spartan Classic. The meet has a scheduled start time of 5 PM.
