Regents Drop In Three Straight Sets to Knox


ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University volleyball team (0-3) hosted the Knox College Prairie Fire (3-2) for its home opener on Tuesday night. The night did not go as the Regents had hoped as they fell in three straight sets with scores of 25-15, 25-19 and 25-14.


  • The opening set began as a back-and-forth battle as it was tied 3-3 early on.
  • The battle ensued as Knox took the lead 12-9 and went on to win to take a 1-0 lead
  • Rockford continued to fight hard in the second set keeping it close as it was tied 9-9.
  • RU would not give up as it trailed the Prairie Fire 17-14 but could not gain any ground dropping to 2-0.
  • In the third set Knox came out firing and didn't let up jumping out to an early 13-5 lead.
  • The Regents were never able to cut it to less than six points as they went on to drop the final set.


  • Maddison Hiland (Bellevue, Iowa) and Paige Carpenter (Phoenix, Ariz.) tied for a team-high with 8 kills each.
  • Hiland recorded 8 kills on 16 attack attempts.
  • Casey Sheetz (Rockford, Ill.) led the way with 22 assists.
  • Jennifer Quintas (Rockford, Ill.) and Emily Johannes (Eau Claire, Wis.) tied for a team-high with 9 digs each.
  • Carpenter put together a nice game as she finished with 8 kills, 8 digs, a service ace and a block assist.


  • The Rockford University volleyball team returns to action as it takes on St. Catherine in the Northland College tournament on Friday, Septemeber 7. The match is set for 11 AM.
