Rockford Comes Up Short in the Final Day of the Buc Blast Tournament

BELOIT, Wis. - The Regent volleyball team (0-4) wrapped up its four matches at the Buc Blast Tournament on Saturday against Olivet College (4-0) and Eureka College (1-3). Unfortunately Rockford came up short in both matches, falling 3-0 to Olivet and 3-1 to Eureka. However the Regents seemed to play better as the weekend wore on, playing some of their best volleyball of the year in the closing sets against the Red Devils. After dropping the first two sets to Eureka, Rockford won an exciting third set 25-23 to make the match 2-1. The Regents continued to play well in the fourth set, but came up just short, 25-19, as the Red Devils won the match 3-1.

Olivet College

  • Maddison Hiland (Bellevue, Iowa) tied for the team-high with 8 kills on 19 attempts. She also tallied 5 digs, 3 aces and 1 solo block. 
  • Emily Johannes (Eau Claire, Wis.) also tied for the team-high with 8 kills. She added 8 digs and 2 aces. 
  • Paige Carpenter (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Regents defensively with a team-high 11 digs. 
  • Casey Sheetz (Rockford, Ill.) finished with a solid all-around match, featuring a team-high 15 assists, 6 digs and 3 kills on 3 attempts. 

Eureka College

  • Emily Johannes tallied the team's first double-double of the year with a team-high 11 kills and 19 digs.
  • Della Crain (Lena, Ill.) played well both offensively and defensively for the Regents. She finished with 8 kills on 21 attempts, a team-high 3 solo blocks, 2 block assists and 2 digs.
  • Jennifer Quintas (Rockford, Ill.) tied for the team-high with 19 digs. 
  • Casey Sheetz finished with a season-high 23 assists, 5 digs and 2 kills on 2 attempts. 


The Rockford University volleyball team returns to the court on Tuesday, September 4 at home against Knox College. The match has a scheduled start time of 7 PM in the Seaver Center.
