Regents Place Fourth and Fifth at the Pioneer Open

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The Rockford University indoor track and field teams participated in their first scoring meet of the season on Saturday at the UW-Platteville Pioneer Open. The men finished in fourth place with 12 points, while the women finished fifth with four points. The Regents also had multiple individuals set new personal records, as well as one school record.

 

Women's Results

  • Alyssa Ashford (Springfield, Ill.) had the top performance of any Regent on Saturday. Ashford placed fourth in the 60 meter hurdles and broke the RU school record with a time of 10.57 seconds. She also finished 14th in both the 60 meter and 200 meter dashes, with times of 9.07 seconds and 30.72 seconds. 
  • Katrina Kopfhamer (Portage, Wis.) finished eighth in the weight throw with a distance of 12.59 meters and 16th in the shot put with a personal best throw of 9.38 meters. 
  • Kaylynne Terry (Streator, Ill.) placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 10.43 meters.

 

Men's Results

  • Carlos Flores (Elgin, Ill.) participated in a trio of events on Saturday. His highest finish came in the long jump where he placed fourth with a distance of 3.70 meters. He also finished 13th in the 400 meter race with a personal best time of 1:06.78 and 14th in the shot put with a throw of 6.64 meters. 
  • Emani Johnson (Channahon, Ill.) finished fifth in the 60 meter dash and 15th in the 200 meter race with respective times of 7.72 seconds and 26.90 seconds. 
  • Joe Werkheiser (Lena, Ill.) placed eighth in the 400 meter race with a time of 54.73 seconds. He also finished 13th in the 200 meter race and crossed the finish line in 25.14 seconds. 
  • Tommy Brown (Plano, Ill.) led the Regents in the throwing events. Brown placed ninth in the shot put with a throw of 12.48 meters and 13th in the weight throw with a distance of 10.96 meters.
  • Alex Evitts (Aurora, Ill.) finished 13th in the shot put with a throw of 8.38 meters and 14th in the weight throw with a personal best distance of 8.87 meters. 

 

The Rockford University track and field teams return to action next Saturday, February 2 at the Olivet Nazarene Invite. The meet has a scheduled start time of 10:00 AM.
