LA CROSSE, Wis. - Rockford University freshman thrower Kaylynne Terry (Streator, Ill.) concluded her season on Friday, May 25 at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Terry's top throw in the shot put came on her third attempt in the preliminaries and traveled a distance of 13.38 meters. Her mark was officially the thirteenth farthest throw at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and was just 0.16 meters shy of qualifying her for the finals.
"We are very proud of Kaylynne," RU Head Coach Morgan Goetschel stated. "She showed up, competed and represented both herself and the University extremely well at Nationals. I know it's not the outcome that she wanted, but I also know that she is going to grow from her experiences at the NCAA Championships this year. Kaylynne is already talking about what she needs to do to get back here in the future, and I'm excited about what the future holds for her."
It was truly a historic season for the both Kaylynne Terry and the Rockford University track and field team. Terry finished the year as the only RU female track and field athlete to ever win the same event at both the NACC Indoor and Outdoor Championships in the same season. She is also the first known Regent to qualify and participate at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
