MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University women's tennis team wrapped up its 2013 season on Saturday with a pair of dual meets at Wisconsin Lutheran College and Alverno College. Unfortunately for the Regents, Rockford came up on the short end of a 6-3 score in each of the two dual meets.
The Regents opened their day at Wisconsin Lutheran College. Rockford's #2 doubles team of Monica Parsons (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) and Angela Martinez (Rockford, Ill./Keith County Day) notched the Regents first win of the day with an impressive 8-3 win. Parsons would pick up her second win of the dual meet later in singles action. The sophomore defeated her opponent in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Junior Tanja Valentic (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) gave Rockford its final win of the morning. Valentic was impressive losing just one game combined in her 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Rockford came into the final dual meet of the fall hoping to get its first win of the season against the Alverno College Inferno. The Regents opened the dual meet winning one of the three doubles matches. The #2 doubles team of Monica Parsons and Angela Martinez won their second doubles match of the day. The duo was once again impressive in their match cruising to an 8-2 victory. In singles action Rockford got its two victories out of the #5 and #6 positions. Carla Ramirez (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) continued her hot streak with Rockford's most impressive win of the afternoon. Ramirez dropped just one game in the two sets combined winning 6-1, 6-0. The Regents other win came courtesy of Tanya Valentic. Valentic also won in convincing fashion 6-1, 6-3 to complete her perfect 2-0 day.
The women's tennis team concludes the 2013 season with an 0-11 record.
