ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team (1-7, 0-5 NACC) fell 80-45 in its final home game of the year on Saturday to the NACC leading Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons (6-2, 5-0 NACC). The Falcons never trailed in the game and showed why they were the overwhelming preseason favorite to win the conference. CUW was especially dominant on the interior, outscoring Rockford 44-22 on points in the paint and outrebounding the Regents 54-26.

The game was close for a good portion of the first quarter before the Falcons began to assert their will. With CUW holding a 6-2 lead, Rockford's Nicole Silvers (Byron, Ill.) and Katie Hart (Davis Junction, Ill.) hit back-to-back threes as the Regents tied the game at 8-8. Unfortunately that is when things began to go south for Rockford, as CUW closed the quarter on a 17-0 run to take a commanding 25-8 advantage. Things did not get any better in the second quarter as the Falcons built their lead to as many as 29 points. However, Rockford was able to close the gap a little bit at the end of the half, thanks to a 6-0 run led by three points from Linzy Keller (Rockford, Ill.).

The third quarter was by far the Regents' best period of the day, as they held the Falcons to just 15 points, while scoring 13 of their own. Linzy Keller led all scorers in the period with 5 points. However the fourth quarter once again belonged to the Falcons, as they extended their lead to as many as 40 points before ultimately winning by a final score of 80-45.

Senior Tajanae Key (Glendale Heights, Ill.) played very well for Rockford, leading the Regents in every key statistical category. Key finished with a team-high 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting. She also led the Regents in steals (6), rebounds (5), assists (5) and blocks (1).

Lexie Collins (Earlville, Ill.) and Linzy Keller were the next two leading scorers for the Regents. Collins finished with 6 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist off the bench, while Keller added 8 points and 2 rebounds.

The RU women's basketball team returns to the court on Tuesday, December 19 in Daytona Beach Fla. against Centre. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. central time.
