Maria Darling enters her first season as a graduate assistant coach for both the Rockford University cross country and track & field program in 2018-19. Darling will look to help on all fronts but will primarily coach the sprints, jumps, and pole vault during the track and field season. She enters with a background strong in biomechanics and muscle physiology.
 

In the Spring of 2018 Darling interned as a Strength and Conditioning coach at Slippery Rock University where she worked with football, lacrosse, and field hockey teams.

As a student-athlete for SRU, Darling focused on the pole vault, competing in the event at the indoor and outdoor Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championship meets all four years. During both 2016-17 seasons she claimed third in the PSAC to only her teammates and placed sixth at the 2017-18 Indoor Championship. Darling cleared the NCAA DII provisional standard during three seasons earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for both the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons, USTFCCCA All-Region honors for the 2016-17 season, and two-time All-PSAC selection. 

Darling is from Arcadia, NY and graduated from SRU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Psychology as duel majors in 2018 and is completing an MBA program at Rockford.
