DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Rockford University cross country teams participated in the Loras College Invitational on Friday afternoon. The meet was the Regents' final tune-up prior to the NACC Championships. The men's race featured a field of 92 runners, while the women's field consisted of 90 participants.
Rockford's top performer of the day was freshman Christian Devant (Winnebago, Ill.). Devant had his best effort of the season placing 38th and finishing the 8k race with a personal best time of 28:33.4.
Junior John Finley (Rockford, Ill.) and freshman Nathaniel Hegge (Roscoe, Ill.) were right on each other's heels finishing less than 10 seconds apart. Finley placed 68th with a time of 30:05.8 and Hegge crossed the finish line in 30:15.3 to place 71st.
Kenyai O'Neal (Waco, Texas) rounded out the men's team placing 92nd with a personal best time of 39:28.3.
The women's team had a trio of individuals run in the 6k race. Freshman Jamie Buechner (Island Lake, Ill.) led the way crossing the finish line in 32:55.7 for an 85th place finish. Junior Monica Parsons (Rockford, Ill.) and freshman Megan Hendrickson (Princeton, Ill.) completed the race in 36:20.4 and 36:28.9 to place 87th and 88th respectively.
The RU cross country teams return to action on Saturday, October 31 at 11:00 a.m. at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Cross Country Championships.
