CHICAGO, Ill. - The Rockford University indoor track and field teams participated in their final meet on Saturday prior to next weekend's Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Indoor Championships. Rockford had perhaps its best day of the season as the men finished in sixth place, while a short-handed women's team did not record a team score. Individually it was another stellar day for the Regents with thirteen top-10 finishes, numerous personal bests being set and one school record being broken.

Freshman Tyrece Ahrens (Kankakee, Ill.) stole the show with five top-10 finishes including winning one event and breaking a school record. Ahrens vanquished his competition in the long jump, winning the event with a distance of 6.20 meters. The freshman also took fourth in the 400 meter race crossing the finish line in 52.16 seconds. His time in the 400 meter is currently the fourth fastest in the NACC this season. Ahrens then took sixth and broke the RU school record in the triple jump with a distance of 12.12 meters. His jump is currently the tenth longest in the conference this season. He then wrapped up his day with a sixth place finish in the high jump and a seventh place finish in the 60 meter dash. Ahrens' distance of 1.69 meters in the high jump is a new personal best and is the ninth farthest in the NACC this year. His time of 7.23 seconds in the preliminaries of the 60 meter is a new personal best and 12th fastest so far this year in the conference.
