Stars Outshine Regents as NACC Play Begins


LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team (4-3-1, 0-1 NACC) dropped its first game to begin NACC play on Wednesday night as it hosted the Dominican University Stars (4-2-0, 1-0 NACC). Despite Rockford falling 3-0 it was a tightly contested affair as each team registered seven shots on goal. 


  • Both teams opened up strong as each had potential goal scoring opportunities off corner kicks in the opening minutes.
  • It was not until 14:42 into the game where Nicolo Vitale of Dominican received a pass across the box to finish it in the back of the net to take an early 1-0 lead. 
  • Each team registered six shots in the first half.
  • It was still a very tightly contested match in the second half as Rockford had its chances to tie it up but could not come away with a goal.
  • Two late goals in the 73rd minute propelled the Stars to a 3-0 lead.
  • Daniel Dominguez did well to keep the Regents off the board as he registered the shutout stopping all seven of the shots he faced.


  • Brandon Oeltjenbruns (Arvada, Colo.) led the Regents with 4 shots.
  • Saeed Alqahtani (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) finished the night with 2 shots that were both on goal.
  • Simeon Adesina (Plainfield, Ill.) tallied 3 shots with 2 of those being on target.
