Charles Ruffing is entering his second season as an assistant coach for the Rockford University men's basketball program. Ruffing comes to the Regents after one year at Franklin College in Indiana. During his time at Franklin, he helped develop a pair of All-HCAC performers.
Prior to entering the coaching ranks, Ruffing spent his entire collegiate career in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. He spent the first two years of his collegiate career at Marian University. While at Marian, Ruffing ranked second on the team in assists and helped the Sabres qualify for the NACC Tournament. He also served on the school's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was named to the NACC All-Sportsmanship Team. Ruffing then transferred to Concordia University Chicago where spent two seasons as the team's point guard. In his final season as a Cougar, Ruffing was named to the Dean's List and a NACC Scholar-Athlete.
Ruffing has also spent time coaching and working camps over the summer months. Most recently he served as a camp coach at Ohio University in June 2015. He assisted in the organization and function of the camp, while also creating drills. Ruffing has also worked as a summer varsity basketball coach at Chilton High School from 2013-15 and was an assistant youth AAU coach in 2011 for the Wisconsin Blizzard.
Ruffing earned his bachelor's degree in Business Management with a minor in Sports Management from Concordia University Chicago. He is currently working towards his master's degree at Rockford University.
