ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team (0-4, 0-2 NACC) fell at the hands of an undefeated MSOE Raiders team (5-0,1-0) on Tuesday night. The Raiders were able to capitalize on open looks and knock down shots as MSOE shot 57.6% from the floor in the game including an impressive 12-for-25 from beyond the arc. Another factor was the contribution MSOE got from its bench, as the Raiders bench outscored the Regents' 48-19.
- It was a back-and-forth battle in the beginning of the game as MSOE held a 7-6 lead just five and a half minutes in.
- From there the Raiders went on a 10-1 run to take control of the momentum.
- The closest the Regents would break into the Raider lead would come at 26-19 with 10:34 left in the first half.
- MSOE continued to knock down key shot as it connected on 8-of-12 from downtown to help them take a 54-37 lead at the half.
- Tony Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) and Kivontay Shaw (Galesburg, Ill.) had a strong first half for the Regents. Tony Diemer tallied 9 points while Shaw chalked up 6 rebounds and 5 points.
- Rockford found an answer offensively in the second half but still could not slow down the high-powered Raider offense. RU was able to knock down 5-of-10 from three in the second half to help boost its 52-point second half total.
- The Regents went on to fall 108-89 as MSOE was led by Matthew Kirmse with 32 points as he hit a staggering 8-of-13 from deep.
- The Regents had six players log double-digit scoring on the night.
- Rockford was led by transfer Jeremiah Stewart (Chicago, Ill.) who led the team with a career-high 19 points and added a career-high 8 rebounds. Stewart also contributed 2 steals, 2 blocks and an assist.
- Kevin Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) finished with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and a block.
- Brandon Emerick (Elkhart, Ind.) tallied 13 points, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 rebounds.
- Kivontay Shaw registered 12 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals.
- Tony Diemer finished with 11 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal.
- Denzel Halliburton (Elkhart, Ind.) recorded a career-high 10 points including going a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Halliburton also tallied 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
