KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Rockford University men's basketball team had five players recognized this week for their academic excellence by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Trae Blumhorst (Mendota, Ill.), Ryan Fiorucci (Machesney Park, Ill.), Jacob Siewert (Streamwood, Ill.), Nicolas Ramos (Litchfield Park, Ill.) and Andrew Squires (Pecatonica, Ill.) were each named to the 2017-18 NABC Honors Court. This marks the fourth straight year for Blumhorst, the third straight year for Fiorucci and the second straight year for Siewert on the NABC Honors Court.
In order to be named to the NABC Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The student-athlete must be a junior or senior academically, a varsity player, have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the end of the 2017-18 academic year, spent at least one year at their current institution and participate at an NCAA Division I, II, III or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
