ROCKFORD, Ill. - Rockford University sophomore defensive back Ja'uan Joiner (Phenix City, Ala.) was voted the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Football Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance last Saturday at Lakeland University. This is both Joiner's first weekly award from the NACC, and the football program's first player of the week honor this season.
Ja'uan Joiner played a pivotal role in the Regents' 37-20 road win over the four-time defending NACC Champion Muskies. Joiner intercepted a pair of passes, broke up a third and had one solo tackle. His first interception came at the Lakeland 10-yard line, which set up Rockford's first touchdown of the game. Joiner then picked off his second pass of the afternoon early in the fourth quarter and returned it 38 yards for a touchdown to seal the win.
The Rockford University football team will look to win its second straight NACC game on Saturday, October 20 against Aurora University. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM at Sam Greeley Field.
