MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University football team (1-3, 0-1 NACC) fell in overtime to the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors (1-3, 0-1 NACC) on the road on Saturday as NACC play began. Rockford lead 17-10 in the third quarter before the Warriors came back to send the game to overtime at 20-20 as both teams' kickers did well on their opportunities. Unfortunately, the Warriors were the only team to score in overtime to come away with a 26-20 victory.

  • Early in the game it was the defense who put Rockford in scoring position.
  • Jared Johnson (Miami, Fla.) stripped the running back and Malik Johnson (Chicago, Ill.) recovered the ball on the Wisconsin Lutheran 12-yard line.
  • Rockford was not able to punch it in, but senior place kicker Cody Kupsik (Woodstock, Ill.) put the Regents on the board with a 27 yard field goal.
  • The Warriors would answer with a field goal of their own after a 16 play 75-yard drive in the second quarter.
  • The Regents responded well as Delayno Mack (Loves Park, Ill.) came in for the injured Eric Mackey (Marengo, Ill.) and found the big tight end Adam Ambrogio (Rockford, Ill.) who took it 48 yards to house to give Rockford the 10-3 lead heading into the half.
  • After RU forced WLC to punt on its first possession of the half Mack would hand the ball off to senior Chance Manning (Durrand, Ill.) who scampered 86 yards to pay dirt to increase the Rockford lead to 17-3.
  • Manning accumulated more yards on that run than he had totaled in his first three games on the season.
  • Early in the fourth quarter the Warriors fought back as they strung together a 9 play 71-yard drive capping it off with a 32-yard touchdown catch by Marquis Davis from Pat Mathieson.
  • Heading into the fourth quarter The Regents led the Warriors 17-10.
  • After forcing the Regents to go three-and-out the Warriors found life.
  • On fourth and nine it was Pat Mathieson who scrambled around out of the pocket and heaved the ball to J.K. Witkofski crossing the field for the 26-yard touchdown to tie the game at 17-17.
  • The Regents did well to move the ball down the field on the very next possession.
  • It was Kalan Miller (Cordova, Tenn.) who helped propel the drive as he took an end around for 20 yards.
  • A few plays later it was Miller who outjumped his defender to snag a 15-yard pass on third down to give the Regents the ball at the WLC five-yard line.
  • The Regents could not punch it in but it was Cody Kupsik who capped off the drive with a 20 yard go-ahead field goal to give Rockford a 20-17 lead with 1:15 remaining in the game.
  • On the ensuing possession, Mathieson launched a 47-yard pass to Woyak to put WLC on the RU 22-yard line.
  • Rockford held the Warriors out of the endzone as Wisconsin Lutheran settled for a 33-yard field goal to tie the game at 20-20 to send the game to overtime.
  • The Regents elected to be on offense first and could not come away with any points.
  • Jared Johnson came up with a big third down stop bringing the running back down short of the first down mark on the Warriors opening overtime possession.
  • The Warriors lined up for a 35-yard field goal and Rockford blocked it, but it was flagged for being offside and gave WLC a new set of downs.
