Sport(s): Diving
Career: 1984-86

Joyce only competed on the diving team for two years at Rockford College, but what a successful two years they were. She capped off her freshman season by qualifying for the NCAA National Championships in the 1 meter diving event where she finished in 15th place. In 1985-86 she returned to the National Championships in both the 1 meter and 3 meter diving events, earning All-American status in the 3 meter. Joyce was selected to the All-State of Illinois Team and was a captain for both seasons along with being named MVP in 1984-85.

A double-major in Spanish and Music, Joyce's myriad of interests led her away from the pool for her final two years of college; although, she was a silver medalist in 1985 and 1986 at the Prairie State Games. During her junior year she studied in Spain before returning to campus for her senior year when she got married. She continued to be active in campus activities throughout the remainder of her career at Rockford as she was a member of the Spanish Club and WRCR radio.
