Holli Newcomer began her tenure as the Head Athletic Trainer at Rockford University in July 2012. She oversees the daily treatment, care and rehabilitation of the University’s student-athletes. Newcomer is also responsible for the oversight of the rest of the training staff and monitoring Rockford’s training room.
Newcomer most recently served as the Interim Athletic Trainer at Rockford University for the 2011-12 academic year. During the past year at Rockford, she was responsible for the care, treatment and rehabilitation of the student-athletes. Newcomer was involved with the majority the school's athletic teams to varying degrees over the past year. In addition to working with the student-athletes, Newcomer also coordinated with the coaching staffs and team physicians.
Prior to coming to Rockford University, Newcomer spent time working as a graduate assistant and an undergraduate student in the athletic training department at Eastern Illinois University. While at Eastern Illinois, Newcomer performed various duties ranging from assisting instructors with athletic training lab activities to supervising undergraduate students. Newcomer also worked with various athletic programs at EIU including: football, cross country, track and field and men's soccer.
Newcomer received both her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Sport Studies in Athletic Training from Eastern Illinois University. She also received her master's degree from Eastern Illinois University in Kinesiology and Sport Studies in Exercise Science/Cardiac Rehabilitation.
She lives in Rockford with her two dogs, Jordan and Bella.
