LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University women's soccer team faced another tough battle as it squared off against the University of Minnesota Morris Cougars on Monday. The scoring started early for the Cougars, as they managed to score just 7:44 after the kickoff. Despite the early goal the Regents continued to battle but were unable to create many solid scoring opportunities. However, RU was able to stay within striking distance at the half as the Regents trailed by just three goals. Drew Garcia (Victoria, Texas) was a key factor in keeping the score close as the freshman goalie for the Regents played well making numerous outstanding saves. Unfortunately for Garcia, and the Regents, she was forced out of the game after just one half of play. The Cougars would promptly take advantage, scoring six more goals in the second half en route to a 9-0 win.
The Rockford University women's soccer team will look to get back to .500 this season on Wednesday as the ladies go on the road to Eureka College. The match is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
