The Rockford University men's and women's cross country teams concluded their seasons on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional. The Midwest Regional is typically one of the largest and toughest meets of the season and this year was no exception. The men's 8k race featured 254 total participants, while the women's 6k race had 263 total runners. As a team, the RU men finished in 35th place, while the RU women did not record a team score. Individually though it was an excellent showing for Rockford as every runner either set a new personal or season best.
The Rockford University men's and women's cross country teams performed well at the 2017 NACC Championships on Saturday finishing in 8th and 9th place respectively. This marks the third straight year the RU men have finished eighth, while Rockford's ninth place finish on the women's side is the highest since 2014 when the ladies took seventh.

The men's race featured a total of 30 teams and 351 runners, while the women's race had 32 teams participate with 353 runners. Although Rockford did not qualify for a team score, the Regents still had multiple individuals post season best times.

The men's field consisted of 203 runners for the 8k race, while the women's race had 145 runners in its 6k event. Although Rockford did not have enough participants to record a team score for either event, the Regents did have multiple excellent individual performances.
Both the RU men's and women's cross country teams took part in the Brissman-Lundeen Invite on Friday. The men's team competed in a 4 mile race, while the women's team ran in a 5k race. Despite the hot and balmy weather, the Regents ran very well with multiple individuals setting new personal bests
The Rockford University men's and women's cross country teams ran in their second races of the season on Friday at the Spartan Classic. The Regents continued to build upon their momentum from last week as they once again turned in numerous excellent performances despite not recording a team score. Individually Rockford had a trio of runners set new personal bests.

The Regents Cross Country programs enter into another exciting season as they return nearly every athlete off last year's rosters. With both teams rosters comprised of mainly upperclassmen, first year head coach Morgan Goetschel looks to continue Rockford's assent up the NACC standings.
