Scott Suchy Earns Second Team All-NAC Honors

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Northern Athletics Conference announced its 2012-13 All-Conference teams on Tuesday afternoon. The Regents men's basketball team was represented by junior guard Scott Suchy (Genoa, Ill./Genoa-Kingston). Suchy garnered 2nd Team All-NAC honors in just his first year as a Regent.

Suchy had by far the best season of any member of the Rockford College men's basketball team this past year. The junior led the team in scoring with 457 points which was nearly 150 points more than the team's second leading scorer. He was the only Regent to score at least 30 points in a game on multiple occasions and scored a season high 34 points in Rockford's home win against Maranatha. Suchy also led the team scoring 20 or more points in a single game on nine separate occasions. The Genoa native also led the Regents in free throw percentage (77.6%), assists (53) and minutes played per game (34.5). He was second on the team in 3-point percentage (35.3%), third in steals (37), third in offensive rebounding (29) and fifth in total rebounding (113).

His totals also rank him in the top ten in the Northern Athletics Conference in three different categories. Suchy was the conference's second leading scorer averaging 17.6 points per game. He played the fifth most minutes in the NAC and shot the tenth best percentage from the free throw line.

The men's basketball team finished the season with an 8-18 record and earned a berth in the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament for the fifth consecutive season. The team's run of five straight postseason bids is the longest active streak of any Rockford College team.
