ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University football program took time away from the gridiron on Friday afternoon to give back to the Rockford community. The Regents spent the day volunteering at the Marshall Elementary Fall Extravaganza. RU players helped out at the event by organizing and supervising touch football games with fourth grade students.
"One of the core values in our program is to try to instill in our players the joy that comes from giving and serving others," RU Head Football Coach Jim Schroeder stated. "This opportunity was especially rewarding because it provided our players with a way to give back to kids and have fun while doing it."
The RU football team concludes the home portion of its schedule on Saturday, November 4 against Kalamazoo College. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at Sam Greeley Field.
