ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford College baseball team had a pair of players earn a sport on the Northern Athletics Conference postseason teams for the 2013 season. Senior outfielder Daryn Streed (Belvidere, Ill./North) was selected as one of the three outfielders on the All-Northern Athletics Conference 1st Team. Freshman Cole Logemann (Lena, Ill./Lena-Winslow) was named the third baseman on the Northern Athletics Conference 1st Team as well as being named the Northern Athletics Conference Freshman of the Year and earned himself a spot on the All-Freshman Team. This is the first year since 2010 that the Regents have had multiple players selected 1st Team All-NAC.
Senior Daryn Streed continues to accumulate awards in his final collegiate season. His latest award came on Thursday morning when he was named First Team All-NAC as an outfielder. Streed has now received a total of six different awards this season from the Northern Athletics Conference and national media outlets. In addition to being named 1st Team All-NAC, earlier this season Streed became the first baseball player in the history of the conference to be named NAC Pitcher of the Week and NAC Position Player of the Week in a career, much less in the same season. He was also named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week as a designated hitter for the week of April 22-28. Finally, Streed was named honorable mention National Hitter of the Week and honorable mention National Picher of the Week in separate weeks by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Heading into the NAC Tournament, Steed is at or near the top in every major offensive statistical category for Rockford. He leads the Regents in batting average (.364), hits (56), triples (2), runs batted in (28), total bases (79) and is tied for the team-high in doubles (13). Streed is in the top three in runs scored (25), home runs (2), on-base percentage (.418) and slugging percentage (.513).
Cole Logemann was the lone freshman in the Northern Athletics Conference to be selected 1st Team, 2nd Team or Honorable Mention All-NAC. The third baseman earned a spot on the 1st Team All-Northern Athletics Conference and was named the Northern Athletics Conference Freshman of the Year which also placed him on the All-Freshman Team as well. He becomes just the second member of the Regents baseball program to be named NAC Freshman of the Year. Logemann has put together one of the more impressive freshman seasons in recent memory. In addition to being at or near the top in numerous statistical categories on the team, he ranks third in the NAC in walks (27), sixth in doubles (13), and sixth in home runs (3). Currently Logemann leads Rockford in on-base percentage (.464), runs scored (30), walks (27), and is tied for a team-high in doubles (13). He ranks in the top three on the team in batting average (.346), hits (46), triples (1), home runs (3), runs batted in (22), total bases (70) and slugging percentage (.526).
